Protecting personal data is an important concern for the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture. For this reason, this website only collects and stores data in anonymised form for optimisation purposes. This data cannot be used to identify you personally as a visitor to this website, and it is not possible to establish a user profile. The sole purpose of the data is to improve the service which the Federal Office for Agriculture and Food offers on its internet site.

The anonymised data that is accumulated provide theFederal Ministry of Food and Agriculture with information on the use of this internet site, for instance about the frequency with which articles are retrieved or about the browser used to view the internet page (for instance Firefox, Internet Explorer). The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture uses this information to better adjust the information on the internet site to your needs. This way, frequently read articles can be identified and the presentation of the internet site can be adapted to the most frequently used browsers.

This internet site can therefore be used without disclosing any personal information. You will only be asked to transmit the personal data required for handling your request if you order brochures, use the contact form or register for events. In this process we make every effort to only request the most needed data from you.

When you send us an e-mail, this e-mail and your e-mail address will be used solely for corresponding with you.

Personal data will only be transmitted and derived to the extent absolutely required by law if we are obliged to do so by law or by a court ruling or if this is required, in the event of assaults on the internet infrastructure of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, for prosecution or the initiation of criminal proceedings.

Objection

An objection to data collection and storage, which then takes effect from that point on may be lodged at any time. For this purpose please click on the link to the page of our evaluation programme.

Cookies are also set, but are deleted immediately after the session (session cookies). These cookies make sure that certain values are maintained while you use this internet page. The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture does not use any permanent cookies.

Which data does the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture store?

Cookies

A cookie is a short entry in a specific data file on your computer, which supports the exchange of information between computer programmes or the archiving of information for a limited period of time. Cookies make sure, for instance, that you can order publications smoothly (see shopping cart) and that the font size stays the same when you visit different subpages. The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture does not use any permanent cookies. The cookies on this page will only be set for a short period and will be deleted automatically when you terminate your visit to our page (session cookies).

Most browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox and others) are configured to automatically accept cookies. However, you can deactivate the storage of cookies or adjust your browser so that cookies are only stored for the time of a single internet connection.

Technical data

Every PC with internet access is given a so-called IP (Internet Protocol) address when dialing up. This address, which is needed for technical reasons, is a number with up to 12 digits in four blocks. This IP address is recognised on the relevant server whenever you use an online service, and it is stored (logged) in a technical protocol. If a user visits the website of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, this IP number will be stored together with the retrieved page in a log file. This is an automatic process performed by every server on the internet. For the statistical analysis of the page retrievals only the first two blocks of the IP numbers will be visible so that this data is anonymised.

In general, the browser with which you retrieve the internet services of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture sends data about the browser type, the operating system, the website visited before and the next website visited after leaving the site. This data is also stored in the technical protocol.

Website retrievals

The evaluation programme stores the information when a site was retrieved and which site was retrieved before and after visiting this page.

What evaluation software does the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture use?

For an optimum evaluation of the activities on its website the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture uses the product "etracker Web Analytics". With this product, clicks on downloads and external links can be counted. With regard to identifying the origin (geolocalisation) only the country is identified. The Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture cannot use any of the product’s more extensive evaluation possibilities (creation of user profiles). In addition the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture evaluates with AWStats. Unlike "etracker", this product offers the possibility of analysing the search terms entered on the internet pages of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture. Both products comply with data protection requirements.
